Privacy Policy

What we collect
When you submit a tuition document, we extract financial data (tuition charges, fees, scholarships, net cost) using AI. We store only the extracted numbers, never the original document. Your submission is associated with your account for the "My Submissions" feature but is displayed anonymously in the public database.
What we never store
- Your uploaded document (processed in memory, immediately discarded)
- Your name on any public-facing data
- Your student ID, NUID, or Social Security Number
- Your full address (we may extract ZIP code only)
Document processing
When you upload a PDF or image, it is sent to our server, text is extracted, and the text is sent to OpenAI's API to identify financial fields. The original file is never written to disk or any persistent storage. Only the structured financial data (dollar amounts, school name, term) is saved to our database.
Document hashing
We generate a SHA-256 hash of your document client-side (in your browser) to prevent duplicate submissions. The hash is stored but cannot be reversed to reconstruct your document.
Authentication
We use Clerk for authentication. Your email address is used for sign-in and is stored by Clerk according to their privacy policy. We may store your email to associate submissions with your account. Your email is never displayed publicly.

Your rights
You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. Since submissions are anonymous, deleting your account removes the link between your identity and your submissions, but the anonymized financial data may remain in the database.
